As an internet marketer myself I love reviewing new marketing products that come out such as autoresponders, keyword tools, etc. Big Commerce is an e-commerce solution that makes it simple for you to start your own online store that looks just like the big brand names. Part of this is because they have worked with big names in the past, such as Dell, TicketMaster, Virgin, Wayne Gretsky, Kraft, and many business, universities, etc.
Big Commerce Store Review
I am very happy that I happened to find this Interspire product, I have tried to get myself off the ground before with other e-commerce solutions such as OScommerce but they do not offer a complete package as does BigCommerce. They have designed their software in such a way that "If your 80 year old grandma can't use it then it's too hard!" according to Interspire. Rather than writing thousands of lines of code or using a complex web design program you simply drag and drop items to where you would like in one of their many professionally designed templates.

I have checked out a few of their templates and few live websites from users that are actually using the software and I will say that I honestly prefer the look and functionality of their shopping cart over many big name brands. It is incredibly simple to use from a customer perspective or to manage it yourself. They also use SSL technology that meets the same military grade security guidelines as every major bank, credit card company, or big name website to protect the credit card and personal information of your customers.

We switched to Big Commerce in March 2010 as a recommendation from PrimeSiteUK.com who are our developers.We were pleased that we did this change, it was a learning curve but, once the site was installed and setup, we spent time learning the Admin side and the rest was a snap. To be fair, it's not for non developers so recommend that newbees get a good web person (we did thank goodness!) The only critisim I guess is that the menu system can look too big if you have too many products as it has no dropdown system. We have over 3000+ products! Other than that, we love it! |

I signed up for the DEMO because I want to TRY before I switch from Magento Commerce which I am happy with but feel bogged down by add-ons, modifications, coding etc so want something easier to manage.In viewing some stores that use BigCommerce as well as my own demo store it appears that a major part of SEO is messed up and this being the header tags. Our of all the sites I reviewed, I found ONE that had the tag set correctly on the product page. I am shocked that Aaron Wahl thinks this is ok? Or is it? Did Google suddenly decide that they don’t matter or give weight to them anymore. If so, I didn’t get the memo. I think everything else seems great but I am perplexed about the header tag deal. On Magento to correctly set the header tags it involved modifying code for the css as well as for several other pages but since it is open source and FREE one can expect that. I can’t justify the BigCommerce price if I have to go in and re-code right off the bat. |

I recently switch from Volusion to BigCommerce. I has read some of the reviews in regards to support and times they are open - but the software was so user friendly and looked so much better; I had to try it. With in several weeks I did have a tech support question and had to call their live tech support. I was not on hold AT ALL! The tech support rep I dealt with was very helpful and got my issue resolved very quickly. The fact that they are not open on weekends was called upon as well - but they came through with flying colors by answer my support ticket within two hours! It seems the prior reviews must have been written when BigCommerce had less tech support - but I can tell you it is no longer an issue. I love this product - my site looks so much better and is easier to use. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to sell products online or looking to switch if they are not happy with their current solution. |

Love Big Commerce

We've been using Big Commerce for our UK internet site for the last 6 months and think it's great. I trialled several others at the start of this year and this was by far the easiest to use. It has some really useful features such as an auto export to google product search which has given us a lot of sales. We've also had great support on things like when we had to change our domain name due to a trademark challenge and setting up worldpay. I really like the fact that I send an email at night and usually have an answer in the morning (due to their help being in the USA!). We've been live for 6 weeks and have had over 2000 visitors and 40 sales during that time - sales are going up every week. We are using Worldpay, Googlecheckout and Paypal with no problems. We've asked customers for feedback and all have been very positive about the site and how simple it is to use. I'm not logging on all the time - just a couple of times a day to check orders but only had one time when the system was down and it was back up a couple of hours later. The only negative I would give is that it's not great at handling product variations so if you sell clothes for example in lots of sizes you may be better with something else (although they do seem to be working on this for their next upgrade).

SO CONFUSING AND COMPLICATED

I just signed up to the trial version and it is completely confusing and not user friendly to me at all. Having read the reviews from their website directly I was sold on the idea of having a facebook shop tab and immediately felt that it would be a great tool for my upcoming business. But in having studied basic website design, layout and coding at uni the fact that you have to edit backgrounds through ftp is just time-consuming for one. WYSIWYG does not exist on the trial run. I'm glad that it actually had a trial for me to test before forking out money to purchase it.
